The key to a good freight is not just a low price, which of course is important, but what is the value of a low proce if you are never going to be paid for your goods, and will potentially never receive further contracts from that customer, if the goods never arrive, or arrive too late. Or, they arrive in a condition that makes they unfit for purpose. Communication is also key, as is the provision of the right documentation in order to main compliance in all markets for all parties concerned. This is a major issue with fast parcel operators, who often don’t facilitate the required compliance for their smaller customers in particular. This is often not understood by smaller businesses, that is until HMRC come knocking, on exporters doors, yet still it can prove extremely difficult to get the right information to adhere to compliance.
