Marketing

There are so many elements that come under the marketing umbrella, most of which need to be considered before taking a step closer to a market that may, or may not, match a product offering.

A well thought-out market research plan forms the foundation from which increased understanding can be gained. From this research, decisions around the goals to be achieved within specified timelines, and the strategy to achieve those goals are developed. Although quality market research requires the investment of time and cash, and while it’s never a ‘golden bullet’, the greater the effort put into quality research, and with correct interpretation, the greater the chance of the right goals and strategy being developed, and the fewer mistakes being made. It is also important to note that just because there has been investment, if positive results don’t come through and the required adjustments can’t be made, accepting not to enter a market is part of what market research is there to do.

Correct target market communication is again another essential element of success in any market. Too many within marketing see the creation of ‘noise’ around a brand or a product as positive, when in reality all ‘noise’ does is to make the target audience tune out. Understanding the message to connect with the target audience, and making that message simple to understand and repeating that message, avoid ‘noise’ to ‘music’ the target audience will listen to. Of course wouldn’t it be easy if the message could simply be translated, but the reality that there needs to be in-market testing before any communication is launched.
