The European Union, or as it’s usually called the ‘EU’, is only a part of Europe, or the European Continent, which is the true name of the geographic area across which Trade Director operates. As can be seen from the map below, the number of countries within Europe are considerable, as is the land-mass, which as noted further on, is actually larger than that of the United States. Although the US does have a single language and currency, there is ever-increasing convergence of laws and processes particularly when it comes to trade across Europe. The key influencer in this area is the EU customs area, of which there are currently 27 member countries.
